Entertaining Angels

By Richard Everett

Entertaining Angels

"A fine new play .... funny, touching, thought provoking .... "
Daily Telegraph

As a clergyman’s wife, Grace has spent a lifetime on best behaviour. Now, following the death of her husband Bardolph, she is enjoying the new-found freedom to do and say exactly as she pleases. But the return of her eccentric missionary sister Ruth, together with some disturbing revelations force Grace to confront the truth of her marriage. With sharp-edged comedy and probing wit, Entertaining Angels now tours prior to a West End transfer.

Grace is played by popular actress Penelope Keith, a highly accomplished stage actress who perhaps first made her name as Margot in The Good Life and later in To the Manor Born. She is joined by Polly Adams who was such a hit as Beryl in The Liver Birds which ran for many years on TV and has also appeared in many West End plays and musicals. She has spent much of her time teaching and directing with the internationally renowned Skyros community.

Benjamin Whitrow has had a long acting career in film, television and stage and played a huge range of parts. He was a long-serving member of the RSC but can turn his hand to anything including an old rooster called Fowler in the Aardman Animations animated film, Chicken Run. One of his most memorable performances was as Mr Bennett in BBC TV’s Pride and Prejudice.
