The Reluctant Debutante

Parental plans go awry, reputations are shredded and the generation gap seems insurmountable in William Douglas Home’s delightful romantic comedy. Society couple, Jimmy and Sheila Broadbent, are launching their daughter Jane into society and have their eye on the perfect husband. Jane, however, has other ideas – the round of balls and parties bores her stiff and the last thing she wants is some stuffy young toff with perfect manners – in fact the chap she wants seems to be a perfect cad …….

Bursting with witty one liners and sparkling dialogue, this affectionate caricature of 1950s British society brings the glamour and charm of the debutante scene gloriously to life.

The Reluctant Debutante

The play stars Jane Asher, Clive Francis and Belinda Lang, all stalwarts of stage and the small screen.
