Nicola Benedetti

Conductor: Andrew Litton
Violin: Nicola Benedetti

Programme:
Liszt   Les Preludes
Syzmanowski   Violin Concerto No. 1
Rachmaninov   Symphony No. 3

Nicola Benedetti and the Szymanowski Violin Concerto have form. It was the work that propelled her to the title of BBC Young Musician of the Year 2004. Voluptuous and volatile, it sits alluringly between Liszt’s Lamartine-inspired meditation on the meaning of life and Rachmaninov’s Third Symphony , a late-flowering work suffused with a deep yearning and soulfulness and, in the finale, infectious high spirits.

Conducting is someone who needs no introduction. A lot of water has flowed under the bridge since Andrew Litton was an inspirational Music Director of the BSO, but he has not lost his masterly touch.
